My name is Kat and I’m a rehabilitated blonde.
I have spent a lifetime in Minnesota and my world is one part career-woman, one part keeper of the domestic peace, one part wife, and one part mama to a son and a daughter.
I married the love of my life on June 12, 2011. The way my husband and I met was extremely romantic. The first time he was running around at a fraternity party with a bottle of cheap champagne. For the record, he does not remember that encounter. The second time we exchanged vague remarks in a friend’s kitchen over poorly mixed drinks. The third time? I held him hostage on a couch on the same fraternity’s porch over a six-pack of Bacardi Silver Razz. We spent the next two hours talking about cruise ships.
Love, as it turns out, is a many-splendored thing.
If you want to talk about healthy living, before I got pregnant I was on Year Five of maintaining a 60 pound weight loss. I am a three-time marathon finisher and a wanna-be basement yogi. I’m no expert, but every day is a step closer to a lifetime of health.
If you want to talk about food, cooking dinner from scratch (or sort of from scratch) is a passion of mine. I believe that nutrition starts at home and that 90% of the time, what you make in your own oven will taste vastly better than what a restaurant could produce. My husband is the best sous-chef a girl could ask for and our first rule in the kitchen is that if we fail, the local sushi place is on my speed dial.
If you want to talk about homes, while I am absolutely terrible at interior design and decorating, that doesn’t stop me from trying to spruce up our place with little touches here and there. I am constantly working to trim down our budget and create savings where it didn’t exist before. It’s always more fun to tell those dollars where to go yourself than to let a big company do it for you.
If you want to talk about travel, I’d love to do that too. Because the land of 10,000 lakes is the place that I call home, I’m most comfortable by open water. My go-to getaway is the cabin. I (and we!) do love to travel abroad as well. In the past we’ve run with the bulls in Pamplona, stood in the light of the midnight sun in Iceland, and hiked Cinque Terre. Even though that pace will slow down for a time, we’re always looking forward to planning our next adventure!
I already know we have lots to share.
Most concisely, I love life.
