Home.

This picture is not home. Actually the view from the top of Camelback Mountain.

I’ll write some sort of trip recap post later, but right now we are home. Everyone slept nicely in their own beds, we are getting right back into our regular routine.

I don’t know how it is for anyone else, but yesterday when we returned (and when we return from all vacations really), I felt like a real pioneer woman. Unpacking, doing a mountain of laundry, hard-boiling eggs for myself and making breakfast bars for the kids, assembling a healthy and light dinner after a weekend of tacos and beers.

Meanwhile, Marcus and Critter went to the grocery store, he shoveled the driveway, took the garbage out, did the dishes and prepared the house so that the Terminator could robot vacuum its way across the main floor.

As for tonight, it is our hope that we will get to sit down and put our feet up.

  1. I love that you named your roomba.

I’ve always been the one who didn’t unpack until long after I returned… until I met my husband. He changed my lazy ways. 🙂 While it used to be hard to unpack, get laundry going, etc. (I don’t wanna!!!! insert whiny voice here), it now feels like a sense of accomplishment to get everything prepped for the upcoming week upon return. I’m sure it’s even that much more important with kids.

And then, when it’s all done, the reward of relaxing is just that much more sweet.
