Friday Food Round-Up!

Meals.  We made them.

What we ate from the pantry this week: penne, chili-lime chicken burgers.

Saturday – Ahi Tuna Bowls, Trader Joe’s Chicken Cilantro Mini-Wontons

Sadly, this was the last of the ALDI ahi tuna.  It was delightful and such a nice date night-in for the two of us!

Not pictured: My favorite bottle of pinot noir from TJ’s.

Sunday – Garden Pie, Tollhouse Bars

True story: I made a pair of Garden Pies for our freezer and this batch of bars for my department’s annual Doritos Potluck.  I found the bar recipe in a small cookbook that my mother-in-law hand-wrote for my husband when he got his first apartment.  They are delightful and I plan on making them always again always.

Sunday –Channa Masala with Steamed Broccoli, Rice, and Trader Joe’s Garlic Naan

I doubled this recipe so that I could put a few containers of Channa Masala in our freezer.  For the amount of extra work it takes (really quite minimal) it seemed silly to just cook a single batch.

Tuesday – Trader Joe’s Chili-Lime Turkey Burgers, Garlic Roasted Cauliflower, Oven Fries

It seemed like a good election night dinner plan.

Wednesday – Salad, Asparagus, Goat Cheese and Lemon Pasta

I think I saw this one when I was cruising Smitten Kitchen because I was looking for a fast weeknight pasta dinner.  It was a very light sauce, but definitely a tasty (and enjoyable!) dish.  Since we’re out of town this weekend, it even made enough that I could freeze a container.  I will note that honestly, I would be tempted to mix the goat cheese-tarragon-olive oil-lemon zest situation up as a dip for a party.  It could still happen someday.
