Baby-Free Zone

Declaring the blog a baby-free zone for a moment.  We maybe need a break from Critter chat to talk about…um, literally anything else?

And then it’s like OH MY GOD WHAT DO I EVEN TALK ABOUT?  Reading this post might be a little bit like watching your dog walk on its hind legs, or running into your teacher during summer break at the mall (which is to say AWKWARD) but I am going to give it my best shot.

July, like every other month of my life this year, is magically over.  I don’t really expect anything different from August to be honest.  As Critter gets older and we continue to get into a better routine, not shockingly, our personal adult lives have followed suit.

We finally finished this season of Game of Thrones.  I think we are two seasons behind in House of Cards so that is our next television crusade.  Between that and cable news, we should really be set to go until after the election is over.

I feel like at nearly six months post-partum, my metabolism is finally slowing down again (NOOOOOOOO) and that it actually is time for me to eat like an adult human for the first time in 15 months.  I am simultaneously committed/not committed to this cause but on my walk this morning I was pretty much like This is Ridiculous, Move On.  So I’m committing for real.  I will confess to eating a final frosted sugar cookie on Tuesday night because it was essential to my survival.  I wish I were kidding, but actually I am not.

I renewed the domain for The Blog for another five years, so y’all are stuck reading this until at least 2021.  I hope we’re all driving flying cars by then.

After Critter was born, I decided that I finally wanted to pull the trigger and source a Patagonia Better Sweater jacket.  I ordered one in Black and it is just as wonderful as I had hoped it would be.  I’m not looking forward to fall per-se (I live in Minnesota, after all!), but this will be a nice cozy thing to wear.

Currently, my entire purse is contained in a rose gold Marc Jacobs pouch from the Neiman Marcus for Target winter collection.  I did that when Critter was born because I did not want to deal with forgetting my wallet and keys and phone in this bag or that.  When I am with the little guy, it just gets dropped into the diaper bag.  Sometimes, when I am out and about, I just carry the pouch as a purse and call it a day.  On work days, I have taken to dropping the pouch into one of the purses from my past life (someday we shall meet again!) so that I look like I have it a little bit more “together.”

Last but not least, we have a date night scheduled for Saturday night, and I am really looking forward to that. We haven’t been out as just the two of us for No Reason Whatsoever since our anniversary in June.  We’re going to try out a restaurant that I’ve been meaning to get to since before Critter was born, 4 Bells.

Thanks for bearing with me through this one.  I’m sure that talking about my own life as an adult will get easier.  Someday.

  2. Looking forward to hearing what you think of 4 Bells. Haven’t been there yet. But also, blogging about Critter is great. You will have so much to look back on will be glad you took notes!
