#reverb14 is a prompt-a-day series for the month of December that is meant to give us all the chance to reflect on 2014 and the opportunity to write down our hopes and dreams for the coming year. Through December 31st Meredith,Sarah and I will be posting each day with a new prompt. Join us by writing, or join us by reading. No matter what you choose, come with us.
Small Pleasures: What small pleasures did you discover this year?
Sometimes, I feel like small pleasures are the little things that other people intuitively already know how to love. Oh, you like candles? We’ve been lighting those for years. You’re a fan of whiskey? That’s all we’ve ever drank. You think it’s relaxing to go to coffee shops? Adulthood doesn’t need an instruction manual.
There was no class teaching us how to behave or what to love as adults, but please tell me I’m not the only one.
This year has been full of many wonderful small moments. Napping in the living room on a Sunday afternoon underneath my favorite faux-shearling blanket. Sitting at the end of the dock on any summer day. Driving on the winter days where the roads are clear. Stretching after a run. Eating breakfast. Using my camouflage travel coffee mug. Wandering our house wearing a running pullover that I have never run in and workout shorts that I don’t workout in.
My small pleasures are just that. Small.
