On Wednesday morning, I woke up. And I headed downstairs for my AM fitness routine. On weekdays, I have two choices for my morning workout and that is generally based on whether I spring out of bed or if I’m feeling pokey. Springing out of bed = yoga. Pokey = 80 girl push ups, 200 crunches (five sets of 40 in different crunch-poses) and 60 of these pelvic lifts that allegedly build the glutes I still sort of don’t have. Did I mention that I was feeling pokey?
If I do the Pokey workout, then there is foam rolling after that because my tendinitis has just been a beast lately. Not a team player at all, that much is for sure.
After that, I get coffee started. As we all know, my Keurig kicked it about a year ago. So I went out to the garage and dragged out this coffee maker that we received as a wedding gift. It has been love ever since. I am sorry if you love your single-serving coffee maker, but truly I think it tastes like trash next to decent drip coffee.
When we initially received it, we used it and then I put it into storage so we could have the Keurig instead. At some point in the storage period, the digital clock on the thing decided to die, so we just don’t worry about that anymore. Who buys a coffee maker to tell time anyway?
As promised, my outfit of the day.
This look always makes me feel very cool and yes that means that I have assembled and actioned it before.
I have a co-worker who lives super-near Bogart’s Doughnuts and I asked her if she would be so kind as to source me a sprinkle doughnut at some point during the week, because they are just the best.
She pulled through and it was an excellent morning snack. I would also like to note that Bogart’s’ is superior at sprinkle adhesion. I think I only lost 10 or so as I chowed down.
On my way home from work, I stopped by the library to pick up some books I had placed on hold. In hindsight, I was supposed to take a picture of the library. Or the holds-bookshelf. Or something. But instead you are getting a snap of my book basket.
Which I am inordinately proud of even though I know it is a basket of books underneath a coffee table. Related/unrelated, we still have not replaced the lampshade on this lamp and I really need for it to be a drum shape.
For the past month or so, I have been spending some time each day (except for on the days where it doesn’t happen) reading from the book of Proverbs and I have really enjoyed that time. It usually only lasts 5-10 minutes but it gives me something good to think about at the end of my day.
Wednesday was Proverb 23. Depending on Marcus’ post-work schedule, sometimes he joins me too. I read aloud and then we discuss the parts that we think are interesting/confusing.
We also cooked dinner because what else is new.
That cast iron skilled was my Grandmother’s and it has been getting some major use lately. Since our meal involved deep frying corn tortillas (AKA MAKING TORTILLA CHIPS), it just seemed like the right tool to use. Post-dinner we concerned ourselves with the timeless question of, What leftovers will we take to work for lunch tomorrow? It doesn’t get much more exciting than that out in the suburbs, kids.
