Birchbox: June 2013

Birchbox re-branded.  Which largely entailed them ditching the pink foil printing on the box-motif.

Birchbox 1

This month’s theme was Wanderlust.

Birchbox 2

We all know that I have more than my fair share of that, so I was interested in seeing what they had all assembled for this theme.

Birchbox 3

In the box: a Twistband, a LAQA & Co Lil’ Lip Duo stick, Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk, Color Club’s Mod in Manhattan and suki’s Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser.

I’ve already had the chance to use the suki cleanser.  It smells like heaven.  I also stopped without passing go to action my mitts with that nail polish.  I have always wanted to do a white manicure, so this sample was just perfect.

As for The Twistband, I have a few thoughts:

  1. They NEVER hold my hair up.  I bought a few of the “bow” ones to wear over my normal hair ties when I’m running, but were I to exercise wearing one exclusively, I would be better off with my hair down.
  2. They are profanely expensive.  That being said, I know that people lose their minds for these.  I can’t remember who first posted the fact that these are ridiculously easy to DIY, but they are.  Here’s  DIY Tutorial to Action Your Own Twistbands.

  1. I also thought those hair ties were a big disappointment. Too bad because they look so cute. Goes to show, fashionable is not always functional…even though I wish it was…I might feel so much pazzazzier (new word) that way…being a pragmatist can be such a bore.
