Reverb 12 | Prompt 29 | Try

#reverb12 is a prompt-a-day series for the month of December that is meant to give us all the chance to reflect on 2012 and the opportunity to write down our hopes and dreams for the coming year. Through December 31st Meredith, Sarah and I will be posting each day with a new prompt. Join us by writing, or join us by reading. No matter what you choose, come with us.

Try.  What do you want to try this coming year?  Is it something that has been on the bucket list for a while, or is it something you swore up and down to others you’d never, ever do?  What new waters – those uncharted or those well-navigated – will you dip your toes into this year?

If I said that the single greatest act of daring I attempted this year was finally mastering the smokey eye, would you judge me?

Because as the clock ticked down on my 25 by 25, it was the one thing that was eating me from the inside out.

Four months later, I still get a little defiant kick out of doing my eyes before I go to work in the morning.  Because who knew that this whole world of layered eyeshadows existed?

I also watched FOX news regularly for the five weeks preceding the election and I can safely say that small act is something I swore up and down to everyone I know that I would never do.

I know, I know.  Getting to know The Five.  SO BRAVE.

This is my life, party-kittens.

So maybe this wasn’t a year of drastic change.  Or any change at all, really.

Some years, everything changes.  Other years, you have to learn how to be content with a sense of normalcy.  Some years, you have to learn what normal actually looks like.
