  1. The Devil in The White City was an amazing read! You have to go back and dive in. Promise you won’t be disappointed! I also didn’t know he had another book out! Sa-weet.

Living in Denver it’s really weird to drive by Columbine. It looks completely normal on the outside. Hard to think that more than a decade ago there was sheer chaos. I didn’t know their was a book out?

I definitely want to read Animal, Vegetable and I Was Told There’d Be Cake! I have a lot to catch up on! Thanks for sharing.

  2. I totally second Devil in the White City – I loved it so much that, on that basis alone, I’ve been meaning to pick up In the Garden of Beasts.
Similarly, Barbara Kingsolver’s The Bean Trees is one of my top ten favorite books ever!

  3. I am working on Arcadia by Lauren Groff. So far so good. I LOVE Barbara K, as I believe we have discussed prior. Reading is the greatest!

  4. I love Barbara Kingsolver’s The Poisonwood Bible. She’s great. I haven’t read the one you listed, but since you liked it, I should get on it.

I do like Sloane Crosely. Her essays are…weird. Also, since she and I are closer in age than you are to her, maybe I can relate to more of the references? She’s an odd one, for sure! But I think that’s why I like her.

  5. Oh my god, I love Barbara Kingsolver. I think I’ve read most of her books, but I have yet to pick up Animal Vegetable Miracle. Officially adding it to my list.

I Was Told There’d be Cake got a lot of buzz, and I give major bonus points for the awesome title, but I’ve never actually heard anyone rave about it. Plus, let’s be real, no one comes close to David Sedaris.

Currently reading The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen. I read Freedom last summer and LOVED it, and thus far this one is equally awesome. I highly, highly recommend it.

  6. You read some interesting books! Not books that you would usually think of on someone’s reading list. I’m actually reading The Sorcerer’s Apprentices right now because of how you described it. I like it, but I haven’t gotten back to it really since school started.

  7. Columbine sounds interesting, even if dark and disturbing.

I just finished re-reading Game of Thrones and am working on Sunshine by Katherine Kerr. I love her writing style and so far so good!

  8. I expected Sloan’s book to be fabulous…after all, everyone said it was! But seriously, it was anything but. I couldn’t get through it! Not sure why I missed the memo on that one?

I just finished Mockingjay and now I’m on to a book called Custody. I’ll let you know if it’s worthy of The List.
