Be still, my heart.

I preface this by saying that this entire post should be a tribute to why I am not a stylist insofar as photos are concerned and/or why if I ever sold anything on eBay, people would be able to understand that I was selling the Real Thing and not Photos I Found On The Internet.

This is my favorite purse of all time.

It’s the Coach Carly (in-case you actually cared) and I have no idea as to what, specifically possessed me to buy it in 2008.  But I’m 100% certain that this bag is what fully ingrained the concept of investing in nice accessories handbags.

The only terrible part about this purse is that the weave on the fabric was defective.  So after about a year, the edges started to fray.

Coach was not down with that so they discontinued the line and recalled the bag.  You could either ship your bag in and get a full refund, or keep your bag and get a 50% discount off of another purchase.

I kept the bag, obviously.

And then I swore to myself that if they ever reincarnated the design, I would purchase it immediately.

I’m not even kidding when I say that I could carry this purse for the rest of my life and be happy.

Actually, Marcus is probably extremely happy if he’s reading this 😉

So when I was cruising the Coach website with a 25% off coupon and saw this bag?

I didn’t even blink.  It was in my cart and being shipped before I could even stop to process what was happening.

Which is kind of hysterical, considering how much shopping I haven’t done since last November.

I know there’s not nearly as much hardware.  But the original concept?  Appears to be fully intact.

Be still, my heart.

Do you have a favorite purse?

  1. Ya know, purses are something I’ve never cared about. Don’t have one…yours looks great though.

  2. A girl after my own heart. I am a HUGE Coach fan-girl and any extra money I made working my former job (with commissions and bonuses) went straight into the Coach empire. Worth it. Love those bags x a million. I 100% approve of that purse and can’t wait to see it in person.

  3. Yes!!! I have a favorite purse, and I love yours, both. It’s just a purse from Target but because I’ve had babies for so many years now it serves as a diaper bag, while still looking chic.

It’s black, like yours, but it’s great because it’s split into three compartments. The middle is big, I use it for Tumsy’s diapers and wipes, snacks, extra clothing, etc. The outer most compartment houses my wallet and such, and the other outer part holds my lip gloss, etc. I love it. It somehow is big without looking huge like a big gawky diaper bag and it stays organized because it’s split up on the inside, unlike a boho bag where it’s one huge abyss inside. Which I do love the look of-but I need practicality and efficiency.

Wow, I bet you didn’t think you were going to get a response like that huh?

But, it is cheap so the stitching is fraying which is a bummer, but oh well. Good for you for treating yourself to something you love.

By the way, I love the comments you leave on my blog. I think you are great. Take care,

    Shauna

  4. I love love love bags. I have two Coach bags, but they are tucked away because I’m afraid to use them around Kate. I am getting tired of my diaper bag, and I’m thinking it’s time for something new. While different from what I usually go for, I am thinking about this bag:

I like my bags big, so I can fit lots of stuff! This one might need to find it’s way to my house. 🙂

  5. Love the bag…it’s the perfect size and color for traveling especially! I’m always on the lookout for something that fits that criteria.

Let’s face it…I have no taste in bags. So my MIL is my supplier and the LV she gave me for my bday a few years ago? The. Perfect. Bag. I still love it!

  6. Score one for your great find! I used to have a serious purse-fetish that was rivaled only by my shoe-fetish. I’d like to think that I’ve matured (read: had kids & need to haul more crap) so I’m down to a few big ones that I love, and several small ones that barely hold my wallet & phone for when I’m out sans-kids.

  7. ahhhh! i cant even go in the coach outlet stores any more because it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to leave without buying anything. haha!

  8. My purse for the past few years has been a diaper bag (I know, I know, I’m pathetic) and I can’t wait to treat myself to a great bag once the days of lugging around diapers and wipes are behind me. Then again, what am I waiting for? That bag of yours looks like it could fit quite a number of kids’ accessories in it. Coach.com, here I come! 😉

  9. Funny. I was talking to someone recently who might have had the same Coach bag with the fraying.
I like having a little bag and a medium bag for different times, usually meaning a smaller bag for going out at night. Nothin’ too fancy.

  10. My favorite purse would be anything small…and by small I mean barely bigger than my cell phone, able to carry cash/cards, and a chapstick- translate to tiny. I guess with a baby on the way a diaper bag will become my purse….

  11. I’ve been wanting to buy the Fossil Vintage Weekender forever. $238. Ouch. I actually bought it once on Zappos and then thought it might be too big. Feeling bad about the money, I returned it. But now I want it again. I think. Ah, purse drama.
