This is me, getting us back into a routine.
It’s Monday. We’re talking about the Marathon. Because I need to have some order ’round these parts.
I will be honest, based on the events of St. Patrick’s Day 2012, yesterday’s long run went far better than I had any right to expect.
Which is to say that I enjoyed 14 miles in comfort (yes, that’s a relative term), without pain and with energy to spare.
This morning, I woke up and felt like I more closely resembled a rawhide chew toy or a slab of beef jerky.
It didn’t even fall into the category of Acceptable Public Suffering.
I guess the best week of running in recent memory had to end sometime.
The sad news du jour is that my Learn to Run class got cancelled. Despite the fact that for all practical purposes it is Summer in Minnesota, apparently the masses are not in the mood to learn how to run en ce moment.
I thought I would be disappointed, but in all seriousness, I was actually kind of relieved when no one showed up tonight.
After committing to the class, my schedule became all sorts of overwhelmingly busy in the way that only the months of April and May can.
Having my Mondays back is a gift.
But while I still had the employee discount code, I made one last purchase and stocked up on my running snacks.
Behold. The Stash.
Yes, I love them. No they don’t give me stomach problems. I am as confused as you are as to why they’re using Lance Armstrong as a pitch-man.
It’s cute to think that there was a time where I would buy those things in twos and threes.
I also threw in a few tubes of Nuun tablets because even though I’ve never used them before, other runners seem to swear by them.
Now is as good a time as any to test them, right?
What little fitness essentials do you stock up on?
Have you tried Nuun tablets before? Thoughts?
Did you do any St. Patrick’s Day racing?
