For vanity’s sake.

Happy Tuesday, kittens!

I have to tell you, I’m still in total denial that Thanksgiving is next week.  I feel like we’ve only just gotten to the middle of November and suddenly, we’ve nearly reached the end of the month.

I haven’t even gotten the chance to make my hand turkeys yet, for crying out loud.

Don’t fret, my best efforts at burying my head in the sand haven’t kept me from bookmarking recipes for stuffing and potato casseroles and the multitude of things you can do with leftover turkey.

Um.

Check back with me next week.

For vanity’s sake, tonight I decided to attempt another self-portrait.

And I thought I took a fair number of decent snaps, until I realized that I was sporting a MAJOR muffin top in all of them.

Ooops.  Not suitable for public consumption.

See?  Blogging: Not just fun and games.

It’s constant vigilance all the time.

So instead, y’all get a bug-eyed kissy-face peace sign.  Because that’s what everybody needs for an It’s almost the middle of the week-pick-me-up.

How original.  I know.

In some circles they call that getting back on the horse.

I promise that next time, I’ll try to bring you something more inventive.

For now I’m left to ponder important stuff like, Is J.Crew’s Neon Peach really my color?  How bad are my roots?  I really need to fix that Tiffany’s bracelet that exploded on me the day before the marathon.  Should I do my mirror face all the time?

Seriously.

Have you ever committed a photo faux pas?

Are you mentally prepared for Thanksgiving?

  1. Wait…what muffin top? There is no muffin top as far as I’m concerned. You look fabulous! If you want to see a muffin top…well let’s just say that no matter how many crunches you do you can’t undo having a child.

I’m prepared to get the heck out of LA next Tuesday so yes, I am totally prepared for Thanksgiving! I can’t wait. 🙂

  2. I wouldn’t say in denial, but I am totally confused that Thanksgiving is next week. I just started reading turkey books in kindergarten this week! And I had to interrupt myself to confirm with my assistant that it was really next week when I started to tell the kids that.

  3. I am beyond mentally prepared for Thanksgiving! I’m even ready for Christmas! I get sooo excited this time of year, I love the food, fun, and friends. If anything, I am IMPATIENT for it to kick off!

  4. True story: once I filmed a video for a blog post I was doing, and I thought I did a great job – until I looked at the footage. The top I selected was…revealing. Since I liked how I presented the material, I was this close to just publishing it anyway. But I decided to re-do it because, well, I really want to be known on the Internet as that awesome lady who blogs about mac and cheese and toddlerhood rather than that lady with her chest hanging out. Although, there is notoriety in both, I suppose 😉

Also, I love that color! I think it’s lovely on you. And I want it.

  5. We know someone who makes a crazy mirror face every time she walks in front of a reflective surface…you aren’t remotely at her level yet…no worries.

  6. That color is awesome. It looks great!!! Loves.

  7. Muffin top-shmuffin top! I see nothing of the sort. You look fab…and yes, that color looks great on you;-)

I am SO ready for Thanksgiving….it is my favorite holiday because I LOVE TO EAT! Ahhhh! Can’t wait to get my hands on some pumpkin pie and mashed potatoes:-)

  8. I am very unprepared for Thanksgiving. I am more unprepared for the following day when we are supposed to do some early holiday gift exchange…and I have no gifts ready. Behind on my knitting! Plus a forecasted blizzard prevents travel to Civilization for groceries and gifts/yarn. Nightmare.

  9. I was feeling pretty good about Thanksgiving yesterday. Small group: me, my husband, stepdaughter, and a close friend. But now we’re also hosting for Thanksgiving this coming Sunday for my MIL & FIL, so that’s now 2 Thanksgivings. And I suddenly feel overwhelmed… Maybe I’ll lobby for A Completely Different Thanksgiving on Thursday. Indian food, or a nice lasagna & garlic bread, or something.

  10. Take it to Joel please

  11. When a camera is out, you just have to be prepared. Looking good for a picture is an art! That’s why it’s such a big deal on ANTM. (smile with your eyes!)
The last awful picture of me came up after my marathon. My mom just started posting pictures of me, which included a picture of me PICKING AT MY TEETH. How awful is that? I’ve begged her to take it down, but she doesn’t know how. I think that’s just an excuse…

  12. I can’t believe it’s next week – just took me by storm. My mind is a haze and all I need to pie to get me through it.

Another marathon? Geez, you are an inspiration. The numbness is finally out of my leg (nerve issues) so now I can get back to working out after nearly a month – ahhh! Fighting the holiday bulge!

  13. Ugh! I too am all befuddled by turkey day racing at me. I could’ve sworn there were more weeks to go.

Love the color on you! Very nice!

I love making faces in pictures… or pretending to eat things. I just realized my past several FaceBook profile pictures have been me “eating” a pumpkin, beer bottle, and fish bait. Hm. Probably not the best idea for a photo, but I like ’em. But they are all candid… when I take self portraits it is usually several iterations so that I can make sure everything is just so.

  14. I seriously can’t believe Turkey Day is next week! Where does the time go?

And…I am all for vanity shots! Their especially fun if you try them at work:)

  15. I literally just realized *today* that Thanksgiving was next week. When my MIL called to see what I was bringing. I panicked, not knowing where I would find the time to make anything, then promptly offered up 4 dozen freshly baked rolls & a cheesecake. I’ve lost my mind.
