Functionally Complete

Today was a continuation of the nesting-jag that started yesterday.  It was a perfect fall day, so I opened all of the windows, put on a pot of lemon tea and got down to business.

The fruits of my labors?

I took five bags of clothing to the Goodwill, created a recognizable filing system in the office and ordered some prints of snaps from the wedding/honeymoon to display in the living room.

Oh, and we bought a mattress.  It comes on Saturday 🙂

You know what they say…when it rains, it pours.

Since a lot of projects are in-progress right now, I thought that it would be nice to properly wrap one up.  So I was fairly pleased when I found fall decor at the grocery store today.

I jumped on it and went big.

I think it’s safe to say that #3 of the Fall Five is functionally complete.

But I still can’t shake the feeling that we need some sort of festive door wreath or harvest basket.  I think that I’ll wait for the Universe to reveal that one to me.

What sort of time frame do you allow yourself when you’re working on house/redecorating projects?

  1. Hmmm, I don’t have any set time frame. Maybe that’s why I never finish my home improvement projects…. Love the corn and gourds. I saw some lovely white pumpkins at the store the other day, but haven’t decided whether or not I’m actually going to put out decorations this year.

  2. My house is perpetually under redecoration. I’m making progress though, finally! I think Ali was even getting sick of looking at certain things.

Love the creativity Kat. I didn’t realize you had so much of it in you! You are a much better person than me. 🙂

  3. Depends on the project. I think putting down those jars of candy corn and candy pumpkins would take about a week. Unless you made the homemade Butterfingers recipe I tweeted about. Then we could knock it back to about 12 hours. I vote for fall wreath on the front door or pumpkins and mums on the porch. Man, I love fall.

  4. Oh good job! I have a couple of good will bags that have been staring at me for months. You are inspiring 🙂

  5. Wow, you really are in fall mode! Your house looks so festive.
I allow myself as much time as possible, as long as it’s not interferring with something else I have to get done.

  6. I have an idea for a festive wreath for you. I was flipping through Taste of Home magazine the other day (for some reason I’ve been getting monthly issues of it and I certainly don’t recall subscribing) and I saw an article about how to make a wreath out of tootsie pops. I found a picture of it online:—Celebration-Recipes/Halloween-Recipes/Halloween-Candy-Crafts. It just strikes me as such a waste of perfectly good lollipops. Am I right?

  7. Love those gourds! I am considering a wreath… I’ve never been a wreath person. But I like the idea of wreaths because they hang on the door as opposed to cluttering up my already overstuffed end tables. Plus, toddlers can’t reach wreaths!

  8. Well aren’t you productive! I need to clean my house before I redecorate. I left husband alone for four days and wow. Time to roll up the sleeves after work to put everything back in order!

  9. How utterly festive! I’m feeling extra despondent because my house is a wreckage. I usually only decorate for Christmas, but you’re making me want to sing a different tune.

  10. You are so domestic this fall…bravo!
I pretty much only decorate for Christmas, despite my mom’s attempt to send me decor for every season and holiday under the sun.
My decorating plans for this year are to get new couch pillows and an area rug. Wahoo! haha

  11. I’m a big fan of functional/edible decor. The burning question is: does that candy corn have a fighting chance at survival?
