An Odd Couple

Friends, I absolutely LOVE the book suggestions that are continuing to roll in – I’ll update the list the next time that I update you all with what I’ve been reading, and who knows what else we’ll discover!

I woke up at 3 AM with a migraine.  It was not the most fantastic experience of my life.  Migraines during the day or on the weekend are awful, but when they wake you up in the middle of the night, it’s just heinous.

Honesty counts.

Theme of tonight: glee and craft brews.

Ommegang Abbey Ale

One thing I’m bummed to be missing this year is the Autumn Brew Review.  It’s the day before the 10 Mile and even though I plan on being all-about the carbs, it seems ill-advised to go on an afternoon boozing jag the day before the race.  So, Marcus and I hit up The Four Firkins last weekend and created his and hers six-packs of craft brews.  If you’re in the area and haven’t been yet, I can’t recommend the place enough.  I usually end up spending ~10 minutes just reading all of the labels because how could you possibly know what you want if you don’t even know what’s inside?  Plus, they’re usually offering samples of one beer or another.  And by “offering samples,” I mean every time I’ve been in the store, the guy behind the counter has busted open a bottle of one beer or another and started handing out cups.  We love this.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Britney Spears episode of glee, but it was just fantastic in the way that the Gaga episode couldn’t be (though I did LOVE Rachel Berry’s Beanie Baby outfit).  And the John Stamos add-on made the whole mess that much more delightful.  Even if you’re not an avid watcher of the show, this one is worth going online to watch.

Since lately I’ve been fascinated by what, specifically I was up to last year at this time, feel free to check out 9.28.09 – Meringue Puffs and battling a Sweet Tooth.  Ironically, I finished snacking my way through my latest stash of those lovelies on Sunday and I’ve been meaning to make another batch.  For the recipe, click here.

And last, but not least, don’t forget, the giveaway for a Coach Mini Skinny ends tomorrow!

  1. speaking of beer and running, have you heard about these running groups who actually get together and chug a beer – THEN go for a run? or like stop for a beer break in between? lol….some people are crazy 😛

hope you’re feeling better, girl! take care of yourself 🙂

  2. I loves Glee last night! I will def be re watching it again this week. Such a good episode!

  3. I went to the Library of Congress’ National Book Festival last Saturday, and you would have loved it! Even though it was about a million degrees, everyone was so nice, sharing new titles and discussing old favorites. It was like a tiny nation of friendly bibliophiles, plus Isabel Allende and Theta lady Laura Bush.

  4. I LOVE the migraine turban! I have only had a handful of migraines in my life, but this will come in handy the next time that happens.

Have you ever heard of “hashing”? They are drinking groups with a running problem and they do crazy running adventures with teams and mucho drinking is involved. I can’t say I would love the running part, but it sounds like quite the good time.

  5. Sorry about your migraine:( I hope the beer was good at least!
