Obviously I had my head on straight at the beginning of May when I told you all about my plans to run a half-marathon. A totally logical choice given that I was just coming off of my first 5k and had only started exercising in any way, shape or form in January.
But that’s really neither here nor there. The race is tomorrow, and by no small miracle (given that I refused to follow a training plan), I’m ready to go. Especially since four months ago, I didn’t even know about running socks until a co-worker let me know that they were the most direct path to ridding myself of the blisters from hell.
There are really only three things that are certain:
- Cupcakes from Sweet Retreat have been ordered. The Finish Line Feast that will be awaiting Galina and I involves basically the best-of-the-best. Which in my world means: Coco for Coconut, Kevin’s Vanilla Princess, Cookies n’ Cream, Peanut Butter Cup, and S’mores. All of them are my favorite.
- I need to finish in 2:18 because that’s exactly how much music I have on my iPod’s running playlist. I absolutely do not want to have to be fussing with it at the end of the race.
- Galina and I will finish the race. Even if we are injured to the point where our men will be literally forced to carry us around for the remainder of the day.
See you at the finish line, kittens.
