Happy Hanukkah, friends!
Today is one of those days when I SO WISH that I would have written down the words to “The Eight Days of Hanukkah” (Based off of the 12 Days of Christmas) that I wrote for Leah whilst we sat in high school band because Hanukkah lacks anything on the order of Christmas Carol-type songs. It also brings back vivid memories of learning to sing S’vivon in West Middle School’s Touring Choir (because I’m a songbird, right?) so that we could perform at the Wayzata Country Club. Classy.
In lieu of this void, probs check out Adam Sandler’s parody-songs, or try to find Senator Orrin Hatch’s Hanukkah Hymn. Apparently Senator Hatch loves the Jews… A LOT and wanted us to have a song. Bless his heart. It actually is pretty catchy and totally hysterical in a way that is different from the musical stylings of Mr. Sandler. There are LOTS of festive “Hey!”s sprinkled throughout the tune.
To observe the holiday, as I lack a real menorah for my apartment, I will be putting wooden candles in a “Paint Your Menorah” craft set that mes parentes gave me for my conversion along with a host of other lovely gifts.
