So, you’re having guests stop by on a whim. Or you’re rushing off to a party and need to bring something along. How do you combat this?
I find it helpful to keep around some of the following, which in varying combinations can be used to create a dip, cold platter or whatever else your heart desires.
- Smoked Salmon
- Salami (not pre-sliced)
- Hard Cheese (this may be as mundane as cheddar)
- Soft Cheese (brie, chevre, whatever)
- Spicy Mustard
- Chutney
- Olives
- Hummus
- Salsa
- Crusty bread (easily kept out of the way by freezing until needed)
- Crackers and/or chips
- Chicken Cilantro Mini-Wontons (Trader Joe’s)
