Wow! So this week is the first week in a long time that I’ve gone grocery shopping with a paper list instead of the one hiding in my phone. It looked something like this…
I also used my check card instead of taking out cash for groceries. This was induced by the fact that you can’t take $30 out of a cash machine and that I would prefer for unspent grocery monies to remain in my bank account. Otherwise I’m an all-cash all the time sort of lady.
This week there were a few (read: lots) of modifications to the shopping list. I ended up choosing to have whole wheat mini-bagels at my place and plain english muffins at Marcus’ place. The produce at ALDI (w/ the exception of the spinach) was disappointing, so I ended up grabbing tomatoes and mushrooms at TJ’s, which made the adventure a little bit more expensive. And then there’s that brownie mix and frosting that found its way into my cart at ALDI (I couldn’t find Pretzel Rods and Bark so I figured it was as good a replacement as any). And then there’s the issue of brie and avocado that were just calling to me at TJ’s. Like, what’s a girl to do? I haven’t had brie at my place in FOREVER and I would love to have avocado on really…anything at this point.
Oh, and what’s up with the red meat, right? I’m not anti-red meat, I just usually don’t seem to have it in my apartment. Tonight Marcus and I are making tot-dish (which will be SO delicious!) and since we don’t live together, usually for dinners we cook together, we each make a contribution. Since I already know he has most of the tot-dish ingredients on hand, I figured it was my job to bring home the bacon (or beef).
