From Left to Right, Top Row: Madelyn, Kirsten, Megan, Bottom Row: Jeanne, Allison et moi.
If y’all are scratching your heads thinking, Weren’t you supposed to do this box-thing last month? The answer is yes. But we were in the middle of crepe week and marrying off Megan (when it’s time to marry the love of your life, it’s time) and trying to find the time to breathe. It just made more sense to exchange boxes this month.
So we did. Because that’s the wonderful part about friends who “get it” or for better or worse are trapped in the same crazy time-vortex that you are.
This month I shipped a box of Northern-themed booty to Allison and received a wonderful box of favorite things from the lady who shares a parallel with me (no kidding, we both live in cities on the 45th and it actually hits at the end of the street I grew up on), Kirsten.
Do you know what else is so spooky? I think all of her favorite things are my favorite things, too. And our names both start with the letter “K.” We love running. We’re committed disciples of The Homesick Texan. It never stops, really.
What you probably want to know…what’s in the box?

Answer: “Katherine Mansfield” Tea (Dragons Well, Chamomile, Ginger Root and Rose Hips), Dagoba Xocolatl, Mini Box of Recipes – Small Bites, Kiwi Lime Salsa, a Tea Steeper, Homemade Blueberry Pomegranate and Cherry Jams (I cannot even begin to tell you – if you give me your homemade preserved things, I will love you forever), and Naturally Nutty Peanut Butter in Butter Toffee.
DYING.
Whoever came up with the idea to have butter toffee involved with peanut butter deserves all of the money on the planet earth. I’m just saying.
This is precisely the sort of stuff you’re supposed to recharge with.
And yes, let’s all thank God for Jeanne and her craftiness. Otherwise, all would probably be lost on The Compound because Lord knows I can only go as far as bright colors and glitter.
Ooo baby. That’s some good box you got there!
I feel you on the home canned goods. I’m still hoarding a big jar of cherries from Kirsten. I said I was going to use them when all the girls came for Hoegarden Weekend this year, but I didn’t. I’m a bad sharer sometimes. I think deep down I have this burning desire to sit in my closet and eat the entire jar with a big spoon. Please don’t judge. The card comment cracked me up. My mother would be so proud to know I’m thought of as crafty.

Fun! There’s is nothing like a care package. Can’t remember the last time I got one…Think I might finally order some boots (for leggings) on Zappos and consider that a care package from moi to moi. Sometimes a lady just has to meet her own needs.
That’s a box of awesomeness right there. What a fun idea!

Glitter Glue + Stickers = Crafty : You are Crafty
Thanks to Allison’s Emergency Shipment of the Hatch chiles, The Homesick Texan Cookbook & I have a serious date this weekend. I laughed so hard when I saw the hanging monkey infuser, and it seemed the right accessory for Ms. Mansfield’s tea. Because sometimes tacky is the new chic.
OK, that was an awesome box. Also, your mom is so awesome – I’m so excited that she told me the towel is OK to bleach (I live in terror of The Bleaching Stuff)!!!!
The Dagoba probably isn’t still around, is it? I ate mine in like five seconds after I horked some other goods down. I’m not really sure how Jeanne is able to hoard anything.
Butter Toffee peanut butter? What in the world, where do I get that? That’s an awesome box you got there. Kat! I miss you! I’m so glad you are doing well, I love this idea, you are blessed to have these lovely ladies as “box” friends….
Take great care,
Shauna
