Friday Food Round-Up!

I know.  I know.  Things are getting sparse ’round these parts.  Probably because this is The Busiest Part of summer.  Between plans and life, dinner got cooked once.  You should also know that when I wasn’t sitting down to eat with Marcus, I was roasting sweet potatoes like a woman possessed and devouring monster salads.  Probably not the most effective way to bust major sickness, but definitely the most effective way to make me feel like my best self.

So that’s what’s going on behind the scenes.

And, it’s still Cocktail Week.  So fear not for a parched throat with Megan’s Raging Aztec Frappe, Allison’s Peach Pie Prosecco “Palmer”, Carrie’s Raspberry Thyme Tom Collins,  Kirsten’s Traverse City Cherry Mojitos, Lauren’s Paloma, Katie’s Watermelon Mojo, Allison’s Radler, Madelyn’s Peach Bellini , Madeline’s Blueberry Smash, Allison’s Sgroppino and a fun-for-all-ages Cherry Amaretto Granita from Jeanne.

Wednesday – Apricot-Mustard Baked Chicken from Dinner: A Love Story with Roasted Potatoes and Roasted Broccoli

Can we all just take a moment to Give Thanks for natural light in the summer? Because this snap needed no editing.  Zero.   I took two shots and was done.  Finito.  Over.

What we didn’t do: Bake the chicken (we grilled it), use the specified meat (we used boneless, skinless thighs).  And in the end (as once again, I am sure Jenny and Andy meant for) it turned out FINE.

Actually, considering that it was fruit-y meat that Marcus liked, it turned out GRAND.

Otherwise, what else is new?  The remaining characters are summer staples.  But just you wait.  I have a feeling that after the 4th of July y’all will be bombarded with the produce from Gregor Farms for two months solid.  The corn.  The tomatoes.  The new potatoes.  The green beans.  The peppers.   I will apologize for none of it and eat all of it.

  1. Toast. That’s my answer to everything. When you are busy, eat toast for dinner. When you are tired, eat toast for dinner. When you are sick, eat toast for dinner. Pathetic, I know. But tasty. Also probably some crappy advice, so definitely ignore.
