Preface: I know, I know…I’ve been so Dear Diary, lately. It’s just that living presently doesn’t lend itself very well to themes. I promise we’ll get back to business as usual in the next week or so.
For now, we begin.
On Saturday, in an effort to sneak my daily banana in (otherwise I wake up at 2 AM with TERRIBLE leg cramps), I channeled Kath and attempted a mashed banana on whole grain toast with some almond butter, a drizzle of honey and the odd bit of granola.
And shamelessly so. I’m a major fan of Overnight Oats for summer breakfasts, but this is absolutely perfect for the weekend :)
If you’re not doing it yet, do it now. This is one of those run, don’t walk-type situations.
Because Productivity is Our Calling, today I spent the better part of the morning cleaning out and re-organizing the shelves in our bathroom closet.
These shelves? Have been on our T0-Do list since we moved in together last summer. Since we registered for baskets (and a million other organizational-type things to make our lives easier), this was one of those projects that got pushed off until we got hitched and got home.
Naturally, Thank You Notes were on the docket as well. I took a cue from y’all and Embraced Colored Stationary and Chronological Order.
The end result?
Sure, I might be rocking what I can only interpret to be an arthritis-style cramp in my hand. But, the notes for the Bachelorette Party are addressed, stamped and ready to go in the mail in the morning.
As a reward, I finally managed to dedicate some time to addressing my mitts and paws. Even though my manicure and pedicure lasted for the entire honeymoon, by the time we touched down in Minneapolis on Tuesday night, the situation had started to deteriorate.
I was a little bit nervous that the shellac manicure would weaken my nails once it came off (quite honestly, by the time we got home, I was able to physically peel it off to no ill effect). But, I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. I gave them a few days to air out and rehab – this afternoon we were good to go!
Who knew that Greige-ing could be so calming?
And because no 4th of July is complete without a proper BBQ, we rolled over to Mom and Dad’s for dinner.
After we wrapped up dessert, I may or may not have eaten the remainder of the strawberries in the galette out of the crust since I wasn’t entirely sure that the crust would really hang together overnight.
Or, I might have been looking for an excuse to eat more strawberries. It’s all relative, really.
Have you tried a shellac manicure?
How do you organize your closets/storage areas?
