If You Give a Kat a Bunny…

Mother Nature and I are in a battle of the ages right now.  We got one gorgeous day on Sunday, one mediocre day yesterday and today, it poured.  All day long.

SPRING IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN WINTER!

That’s what I keep chanting to myself, anyway.

With the setting of the sun that we couldn’t actually see because of the unusually heavy cloud cover (I’m sure there were three stars out there somewhere), Passover ended.

I took part in my favorite breaking-Passover activity, chomping the ears off of the bunny from my Easter basket.

Some people go the bread-route, but this?  This is SO much more vindicating.

Especially since that baguette of yours?  Probably doesn’t look so good with a bow tie.

Catharsis.

He didn’t even stand a chance.

I also had the joy of sampling some homemade chocolate-covered marshmallows that my sorority sister-turned-co-worker, Bri made.   I was ready to play paparazzi and make some snaps happen, but somehow on the car ride home, I managed to squash the decorations beyond all recognition.

Oops.  My B.

How long does it take you to devour a chocolate bunny?

Truth be told, I only made it through about half of this one tonight before leaving it behind at the Green Mill.  Reality happens.

Do you ever make homemade versions of store-bought treats during the holidays?

Honest-to-God, the whole Peanut Butter Egg thing was my first foray into that dark, delicious world.

  1. I usually take my time eating the easter bunny… an ear one day, part of the body the next, then the feet. It’s a few day affair.

  2. Me and homemade candy do NOT go well together. Unless you count gaining weight an accomplishment.

  3. The first thing I did with my bunnies as a kid was eat the ears. If I didnt, my dad would sneak in and eat them in the middle of the night, and claim the easter bunny’s ears ran away in fear. Now when I call my little brother and sister on easter, the first thing I ask is if they ate the ears. They always say yes!! We’ve got daddy figured out now ;)

  4. yum chocolate bunny. I eat the ears first too.. it just seems natural that way

  5. I always eat the ears first. I look at it this way – if I eat the ears first, they won’t have to endure the torture of hearing me say, “I’m going to go eat some more of my Easter bunny!” It’s the humane thing to do. As for how long it takes to consume one, it depends on the chocolate. If it’s a good quality dark chocolate, I can put it down fairly quickly. If it’s a poor quality milk chocolate, I may not eat it at all. I once had a hollow milk chocolate bunny in my pantry for 6 years.

  6. I eat candy way too fast!

  7. I keep hearing about your weather and thinking how grateful I am to be here (rather than there). Since we had more snow than you this winter, I think it is only fair. I love chocolate bunnies (let’s be honest I love all chocolate).

  8. I love that first picture of you…it is just perfection! You have fantastic bone structure – as odd as that is to write. It’s true!

I used to eat candy way too fast but now I actually take the time to taste it. It’s taken me a while to get to this place!!

I hope some rain-free days come your way my friend!

  9. This year, I got a flat chocolate bunny, which was kind of weirder to eat slowly. It managed to last until today.
I love some of the classic store bought candies, but nothing can compare to the deliciousness of homemade treats. I love Reese’s peanut butter eggs, but the yummiest peanut butter and chocolate creations I think I’ve ever had were homemade buckeyes.

  10. I eat anything chocolate in seconds! This is why I can’t keep it in the house! :)

  11. We have the craziest weather today. Its raining like the sky will burst open and the hailstones are crazy.

  12. Fact: my chocolate bunnies only seat the light of day once before they are gone. Hard to believe thinking that near constant rain is better than the near constant snows of winter–but they are. That is until I am at a kiddo soccer game getting soaked and pruney beneath my trench coat–which is every night.

  13. I made reeses too :)

I could most likely eat the entire bunny – haha

  14. I didn’t get a chocolate bunny this year :( I just got the Cadbury Mini Eggs – apparently they come in dark chocolate now. Sold!!
